A new primary care alcohol awareness project has been launched
in Hawke's Bay.
The region's PHO, Health Hawke's Bay, is running the initiative, in
collaboration with the Alcohol Advisory Council of New
Zealand.
The project is intended to increase awareness of the wider problems
associated with high levels of alcohol use.
As part of the project, healthcare professionals, including GPs,
will participate
in training workshops aimed at giving them more confidence in
screening for alcohol related issues, project manager Sarah Mulcahy
says in a media release from Health Hawke's Bay.
The training will include building skills to be able to ask
patients the right questions and the best ways to suggest how
drinking habits can be changed.
