Child Poverty Action Group's health spokesperson and GP Nikki
Turner is disappointed there's very little in the Budget to protect
society's most vulnerable.
With the exception of the increased funding of $69.7 million for
early childhood education, there's very little for children living
in poverty, Dr Turner says.
During the 1990s, child hospital admissions shot up during
difficult financial times and that's likely to happen again in the
near future, she says.
The housing insulation package, worth $323.3 million, is positive
as is the $46 million for devolving hospital services to primary
care, she says.
"It's good but not going to solve all our problems."
