Aged residential care sector upbeat – Martin Taylor

The aged residential care sector welcomes the $89.5 million over four years announced in the Budget, saying the Government has delivered on its promises.

The new money certainly go a long way towards addressing the aged residential care sector's problems with increasing nurses' wages Healthcare Providers New Zealand chief executive Martin Taylor says.

Nurses wages have been pushed up by the DHBs' MECA and this will compensate the sector for that, Mr Taylor says.

This Government understands the way public sector wages put pressure on private sector wages, he says.
