Media release from the Auckland region's DHBs
The Auckland District Health Boards have agreed with Labtests to
place a senior and expert team into Labtests to ensure the Quality
and Safety issues identified are immediately addressed.
Labtests have agreed and accepted the need for this. The purpose of
the placement is to provide experienced senior DHB staff who can
ensure that an appropriate focus is placed on robust and
sustainable improvement. The placement is taking place at Labtests'
expense.
The DHB team is made up of;
Johan Vendrig (Executive Director) - Operational systems,
Measurement of performance
Chief Information Officer with ADHB, with 15 years experience in
Health Information Management. He has a Masters degree in
Information Management and is experienced in building a working
team.
Dr Jocelyn Peach - Incident management
Director of Nursing and Midwifery, WDHB. Emergency Systems Planner
and Nurse Leader in Auckland for 20 years. Dr Peach has a strong
background in successful change management.
Phil Barnes - Quality assurance and operational
systems
Director Allied Health, Scientific and Technical Staff at WDHB.
Phil was also Programme Manager, International Accreditation, NZ
(IANZ) and was instrumental in introducing international laboratory
standards to NZ medical laboratories, who were the first in the
world to adopt an international standard.
Dr Peter Cooke - Clinical relationships
Dr Peter Cooke is an anaesthetist who holds a New Zealand MBA and
has held numerous administrative and leadership positions in New
Zealand healthcare. He has maintained his clinical skills by
practising as an anaesthetist in the public and private sector. He
was until recently Chief Medical Officer of Southern Cross Medical
Care Society.
Dr Christine Forster -Clinical relationships
Dr Forster is Principal GP in an Auckland Group Primary Care
Practice. She is presently the Deputy Chair of The Ethics Committee
on Assisted Reproductive Technology and previously a member of the
Health and Disability Ethics Committee.
Debra Ellis - Emergency Management
Specialist
Emergency Management Specialist at ADHB for the last two years. Has
had 15 years experience in emergency management in the UK and NZ
working with local government and health. She is an Army
Territorial Officer who has a MSc in Trauma and Disaster Management
Studies.
Tim Wood - DHB support
Tim Wood is currently project director of the transition process.
He holds a BSc Hons Chemistry, MSc Pharmacology, Post Grad Diploma
in Management and has 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry
managing clinical research. Tim also previously managed the North
Shore Hospital Laboratory.
