Practitioners
The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners' annual
Quality Symposium opened in Wellington this morning.
Health Minister Tony Ryall opened the symposium with a presentation
on the future direction of quality in the New Zealand health
system, and announced the establishment of a Quality and Safety
Improvement Commission, a new clinician-led agency independent of
the Ministry of Health.
"We're delighted the Minister is focussed on clinician-led quality
care for patients. We look forward to working with all the major
stakeholders to strengthen high-quality, safe and effective general
practice and primary care," College President Harry Pert
said.
The full Quality Symposium 2010 programme can be found here.
Highlights include updates on the College's Quality agenda and a
forum on the role of primary care in improving child heath.
