Outreach Health

The Downtown Community MinistryFriday 23 July 2010, 3:11PM

Media release from the Downtown Community Ministry

The new Te Aro Health Centre outreach clinic opened in Compassion House this week, upstairs from Downtown Community Ministry (DCM).

Mark Stillwell, a doctor at Te Aro Health said, "This is a really positive move for us to have an outreach clinic in the same building as DCM who we already work closely with. It means that we will be able to provide even better healthcare assistance to our patients because they can come up and see us when they're in at DCM."

Jane Ginnane, a nurse at Te Aro Health added, "We'll also be able to reach new patients and strengthen our ties with existing patients."

The outreach clinic will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9.30am. It will operate on an open-clinic basis, rather than with set appointment times.

Janice Coldicott, Community Worker at DCM said, "Having Te Aro Health upstairs twice a week is going to make a real difference to our service users who need to see a doctor or nurse at short notice."

"Collaboration between agencies is a key way to streamline and improve outcomes for our service users, such as renewing their medical certificates for Sickness Benefits."
