Media release from RNZCGP
The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (the
College) has appointed its Group Manager Membership Services, Helen
Morgan-Banda, to the role of Chief Executive Officer, President
Harry Pert announced today.
Dr Pert said her appointment was the next step in the changes the
College had made over the past year or so to make it more agile and
responsive to member and sector needs.
'We are at an exciting phase in the College's development and we
look forward to having someone with Helen's wide-ranging experience
in the public and private sectors taking on the CEO's role.
'Helen has been part of the College's Senior Management Team since
last October which means she is very familiar with the College and
how we operate. She brings to her new role more than 15 years in
senior management positions.
'These include being Head of Corporate Affairs for ANZ, New
Zealand's largest bank; Director of Marketing and Communications at
Victoria University; Head of Communications and Government
Relations at NZ Lotteries; and Strategic Communications Manager in
the Office of the Prime Minister. She has a Master of Business
Administration from Massey University and is also a journalism
graduate from the former Wellington Polytechnic (now Massey's
Journalism School).
Dr Pert said that on behalf of the Board and College members he
wanted to thank interim CEO Jane O'Hallahan for the significant
contribution she has made to the College.
'Jane has provided leadership to the College during a period of
significant change and the Board is very grateful for this and the
positive changes she has achieved since she took on the role in
August 2011.'
Dr Pert said that Ms Morgan-Banda would take up the role on 1
October.
