HANOI, Viet Nam, 96 August 2012-The World Health Organization
Regional Committee for the Western Pacific, WHO's governing body in
the Region, will meet here from 24 to 28 September 2012 to review
WHO's work of the past year and discuss future directions.
About 100 representatives, including ministers of health, from the
Region's 37 countries and areas will attend the meeting.
Among the agenda items will be the rising prevalence of
noncommunicable diseases, violence and injury prevention, neglected
tropical diseases, tobacco control, malaria and artemisinin
resistance, HIV prevention and treatment, measles elimination, the
health-related Millennium Development Goals and health
financing.
Most sessions will be open to journalists. The meeting will be held
at the Melia Hanoi Hotel. Journalists may interview WHO experts on
the various agenda items.
