Cabinet has approved a number of changes to the Cost of
Treatment Regulations following public consultation carried out in
2011.
As of 1 April 2012, a regulated price for nurse practitioners will
be introduced. Payment for nurse practitioners will be $25.51 GST
exclusive ($29.34 GST inclusive) per consultation.
There will also be a 2 percent increase in the GST inclusive
regulated prices for general practitioners and registered nurses
(see table below).
Three podiatry procedures currently in the letter of agreement
will be added to the regulations. This means that ACC and
podiatrists will no longer need to hold a letter of agreement for
these services and a letter to terminate existing agreements will
be sent out before the new regulations come into force.
The above changes will be effective from 1 April 2012 and Practice
Management System (PMS) vendors have been notified directly.
