Media release from Auckland DHB
Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) has sought and received
assurances from the University of Auckland's Faculty of Health and
Medical Sciences that there is no evidence a person posing as a
medical student had direct contact with patients or their
families.
"The accreditation and monitoring of medical students within the
hospital is the responsibility of the University," ADHB Chief
Medical Officer Dr Margaret Wilsher said.
"I have spoken with the Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health
Sciences and he has assured me there is no evidence the person in
question has had direct contact with any of our patients or their
families.
"We take this matter seriously and have offered to assist the
University in its investigation and to provide any support that may
be required."
