Southern NSW Local Health District (LHD) Australia employs over 3000 people across more than 20 sites making it one of the region’s largest employers with most staff local to the communities they serve. Doctors, nurses and allied health professionals account for about 70 per cent of the workforce. Southern NSW LHD has 14 public inpatient facilities comprising 11 hospitals and three multi-purpose services.

Two roles for a Director Medical Services are required for Southern NSW LHD; Tablelands Network and Coastal Network.

The Director of Medical Services Tablelands Network and Coastal Network reporting to the General Manager of the respective Networks and professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Medical Services, will be responsible for management of medical staffing, policy development, financial strategy, reviews and clinical audits. They will manage recruitment and retention of staff specialists, VMOs and locums; oversee policy development; review, implementation and refinement of policy; design and manage budget and financial strategy; and ensure good clinical practice.

They will be a Medical Practitioner fully registered with the Medical Board of Australia or Medical Council of New Zealand and, preferably, also a Fellow or Associate Fellow of RACMA.
