PHARMAC is looking to appoint a new Medical Director to join this high-profile Crown entity that is truly making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, Sarah Fitt, the Medical Director is a key member of the executive team. Leading a team of five, the Medical Director provides PHARMAC with clinical governance, leadership and advice interacting with clinicians and health care professionals across both the primary and secondary care sectors for both medicines and medical devices, as well as with patient and advocacy groups.

This is a great opportunity to contribute clinical expertise in a key sector leadership role and to communicate PHARMAC’s perspectives, processes and decisions within the sector. The Medical Director will be a strong clinical leader and strategic thinker, with the ability to work actively with key stakeholders in the health sector, across government, with patients and the public.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership, a New Zealand-recognised qualification, and an understanding of current healthcare issues within the New Zealand health sector.
The role is full-time and based in Wellington.

Medical Officer to lead our Fracture Clinic 12 month fixed term

Dunedin Urgent Doctors and Accident Centre (DUDAC) seeks a medical officer to lead our fracture clinic and injury management service for a 12 month fixed term, commencing late 2019.

You could be a MOSS or GP with special skills and/or an interest in urgent care and injury management who can lead treatment of undisplaced fractures and soft tissue injuries with the assistance of an orthopaedic technician and dedicated fracture clinic nurses. Additionally, you will have opportunity to contribute to the future role of the clinic as we review our service overall during the 12 month period. The role could be combined with other work at DUDAC or with part-time work elsewhere in Dunedin.

The Fracture Clinic is located in central Dunedin and runs on 4 week days operating from within DUDAC which offers urgent primary health care for the Dunedin population, visitors to Dunedin and acts as an overflow service for local practices, open every day 8am – 10pm.
