The role:

The RFDS (Queensland Section) is seeking Medical Officers to join the team in Mount Isa. From the Mount Isa Base, the RFDS provides primary health care, aeromedical retrieval and remote (telehealth) consultations.

Fellowship in General Practice (FRACGP, FACRRM) is highly regarded. It is essential that you are currently
registered or have the ability to be registered with AHPRA (Medical Board of Australia).

LAUNCESTON GENERAL HOSPITAL

General and Senior Medical Registrar - The Launceston General Hospital is a 350 bed teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania incorporating the Northern Clinical School and is classified as level two for Physician Training with the RACP and is accredited for three years of advanced training in general medicine and can offer six month rotations in endocrinology, infectious diseases, neurology, respiratory, ICU, stroke, neurology and other sub-specialities.

Emergency Medicine Registrar - LGH is the major referral centre for the North and North West of the state and provide many sub speciality services to the North West. There are 9 rural GP run hospitals around the north of the state providing step down/ rehabilitation/ palliative care services to the population. The emergency department is a modern 42 bed department opened in 2012. Annual attendance is around 45000pa
(21% paediatric) and an admission rate of 25%. There is also a fully functional 8 bed short stay unit (EMU).

Medical Oncology – Advanced Trainee - The Northern Tasmanian Cancer Service provides care and management of malignant disease and haematological disorders across the north of Tasmania and provide significant support to the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie and Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe. The total catchment population of the Service is 250,000.

ROYAL HOBART HOSPITAL

General Medicine Registrar - The Royal Hobart Hospital has training positions in all the subspecialties (at RMO level and Advanced training level), including General Medicine, a number of which are linked to interstate training programs. Opportunities for rotation into other subspecialties at general medical registrar level are limited, although rotation into cardiology may be offered in 2019.

Emergency Medicine - The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the state of Tasmania - population of 500 000 and also provides a local hospital service for a catchment of 240 000 in southern Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry and is the state’s designated tertiary trauma centre.
