As a government agency, it is nimble and focused. PHARMAC is an international leader in pharmaceutical management, the organisation makes a vital contribution to New Zealand’s health outcomes with around 3.7million New Zealanders a year using PHARMAC funded medications.
PHARMAC is looking to appoint a new Medical Director to join this high-profile Crown entity that is truly making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, Sarah Fitt, the Medical Director is a key member of the executive team. Leading a team of five, the Medical Director provides PHARMAC with clinical governance, leadership and advice interacting with clinicians and health care professionals across both the primary and secondary care sectors for both medicines and medical devices, as well as with patient and advocacy groups.
This is a great opportunity to contribute clinical expertise in a key sector leadership role and to communicate PHARMAC’s perspectives, processes and decisions within the sector. The Medical Director will be a strong clinical leader and strategic thinker, with the ability to work actively with key stakeholders in the health sector, across government, with patients and the public.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership, a New Zealand-recognised qualification, and an understanding of current healthcare issues within the New Zealand health sector.
The role is full-time and based in Wellington.
