This enabling decision is very significant.

We now need support from supervising GPs to enable our experienced practice nurses to provide a more comprehensive level of care.

The availability in NZ of nurse prescribers is very limited, while at the same time we have thousands of experienced practice nurses who can now be legally encouraged to offer a more comprehensive level of clinical care. There is no reason why FPA nurses should be seen as in any way more clinically advanced than our own nurses.
