I'm a member of the NZMA as it's the only organisation that remotely politically represents General Practice, the College doesn't anymore. Despite this I couldn't agree with Ian Powell more when he states we need a pan-medical organisation to represent us; it's General Practice's only hope of surviving.

Totally agree Geoff Cunningham. I used to be a member but felt there was limited value to me, never really felt included sadly. In these electronic times and a change in how we practice medicine we need to be more collaborative across the sector. Be great to have a group that had broad representation.

I left the NZMA as it seemed to function like a clique - never felt welcomed, communications not acknowledged and the like. Impression enhanced by the current leadership claiming the right to oppose the End of Life Choice Bill on behalf of doctors, without any attempt to canvass the opinions of the profession. Sheer arrogance.
