The vote by Te Whatu Ora nurses earlier this week to accept the pay equity settlement does not impact on the planned strike action.
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation will proceed with strike action for 24 hours commencing 9 August unless union members vote between 1-7 August to ratify the recently received collective agreement offer.
This is separate to the pay equity deal, but we understand some people may have confused that settlement with the notice of strike action. That action, if it proceeds, is related to the collective agreement only.
Te Whatu Ora will work with NZNO to ensure life preserving services continue to be provided should the strike go ahead, and where possible, work to minimise the impact of the strike on other care services.
