Why is the Pharmacy Guild sponsoring the primary healthcare awards?

We feel strongly that community pharmacy should be acknowledged and recognised alongside others in primary healthcare. We also believe that primary healthcare is the backbone of our country’s healthcare system, keeping people healthy and out of hospital and that this work should be celebrated.

What is the Pharmacy Guild’s key area of involvement in primary care?

We support member pharmacies, advancing their professional and business interests to ensure they can fully participate in primary healthcare service delivery and play a key part in the wider primary care team.

What is it that interests you personally about the category the Pharmacy Guild is sponsoring?

Everything we do is for community pharmacy and our members, so sponsoring the Community Pharmacy of the Year Award was an easy decision to make.

What do you hope this sponsorship will achieve for the entrants in this category?

I hope the process of completing the entry form has given pharmacies an opportunity to reflect on just how much they do for their communities and how vital they are in the lives of their patients.

What is a great experience you have had in primary care that you can share with us?

Seeing just how hard pharmacies worked to stay open and safe during COVID-19 while adjusting to the ever-changing requirements and introducing new services – it was a spectacular effort and should not be forgotten. On a personal note, having an elderly mother who still lives in her own home, I am extremely grateful for the support she receives from her wonderful community pharmacy team.

If you were asked to name a popular song as the anthem for primary care, what would you choose?

We are the Champions (Queen).
