For older people and frail people, the long-term benefit of medicines reduces and the potential for harm from adverse effects increases. When the benefit–risk balance changes in this way, medicine review and optimisation are important to simplify the therapeutic regimen, reduce inappropriate medicines and minimise risks. Entries for the famous Greg Judkins Prize for Reflective Poetry competition will close on Friday 1 July.
This year the competition is open to anyone who is a member of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Historically the competition has been limited to registrars, but this year we are opening the competition to Fellows as well.
The theme this year is, “Getting through tough times” and there are two categories:
Haiku
- Three short non-rhyming lines.
Long poem
- Rhyming or non-rhyming verse (max 25 lines).
The winners of the competition will have their poems read at GP22: the Conference for General Practice (22-24 July).
To enter, please email your original poem (clearly labelled) to communications@rnzcgp.org.nz before Friday 1 July.
